Clallam Transit bids farewell to 2 board members

Mansfield and Braun were recognized for their years of service on Monday during a Transit board meeting in Port Angeles.
"They certainly provided a lot of stability, a lot of support and a lot of valuable input, certainly to the staff," said General Manager Terry Weed.
Mansfield, a Forks City Council member, has served 17 years on the transit board.
Braun, a Port Angeles city councilor, served two terms totaling 15 years.
Forks Mayor Nedra Reed, a former board member, was recognized for her work as a board alternate since 2004.
Clallam Transit's eight-member board is made up of elected officials from Clallam County and the three cities within it.
Each jurisdiction appoints its own Clallam Transit board members.
New board members likely will be sworn in at next month's meeting. It isn't yet known who those members will be, Weed said.
In one of their final votes, Mansfield and Braun joined the quorum in adopting a 2010 budget.
Operating expenses are projected to outweigh operating revenue $7.9 million to $6.8 million.
The total budget for 2010 is $9.3 million.
Clallam Transit staff will work to limit the draw on the reserves, according to the budget summary.
If those efforts are unsuccessful, or if sales tax revenue stays low, Clallam Transit may restructure and reduce service levels.
