PORT ANGELES -- Flooding caused by a backed-up Tumwater Creek inundated the Petit Oil Co. depot at 638 Marine Drive overnight.

Containment booms and other measures were taken to prevent spillage of petroleum products into Port Angeles Harbor.

The flooding occurred as steady rains from successive storms continued to fall across the North Olympic Peninsula and Western Washington today. Showers will continue tonight, and more rain is forecast Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Weather Service has issued a flood warning effective past 11 o'clock tonight (see breaking news item).
