Salon models strut lots of stuff to help winter homeless shelter in Port Townsend

Held at the American Legion Hall, the second annual show featured everything from cowgirls to space cadets.
Sold out last year, Hair Rock was moved from a local pub to the Legion hall to accommodate more people.
This year's show drew 300 people, said Janet Emery, an American Legion board member, and was a benefit for the emergency winter homeless shelter located in the basement of the Legion Hall and the post auxiliary.
Emery said she didn't know on Saturday how much the fundraiser made. Tickets were $10 at the door.
POSH Hair Salon & Day Spa owner Jennie Townsan, along with Erin O'Meara, opened the show in "Flashdance" style, followed by themed sets by the salon's stylists.
Parade of stars
Mae West, aka Dawn Gateley, led off the parade of movie stars from the '30s, '40s and '50s, masses of blond curls framing her face and a filmy black coat trimmed in marabou stork feathers floating around her as Jose Escalera in a zoot suit escorted her down the runway.
Styled by Tina Franklin, the glamour queen parade included Port Townsend Library Director Theresa Percy as Audrey Hepburn pirouetting in a little black dress and signature updo.
Vicki Shaver was one of Gina Holeman's "Cowgirl Pinups with Guns," sashaying down the runway in gingham miniskirts and boots, toy guns in their holsters and blond locks set off with pink flowers.
Charlotte Rutter's models walked on the wild side in fishnet stockings, fur vests and metallic leggings, bringing the response from the crowd to a roar as they strutted up and down the runways.
Along with Rutter and Holeman, POSH stylists Leah Kilgore, Kasey Ellis and Juliet Martin recruited friends and salon clients to serve as models.
Other themed sets featured models in vintage dresses from the '30s and '40s, minimalist black and white fashions from the '50s and futuristic space-age looks, all with matching hairdos.
Susan Solley was the emcee for the fashion show. Disc jockey Miro provided the music for both the models and the dancing on the runway that followed.
