That has sparked speculation that he's planning to leave the Police Department he took over in February 2005, perhaps to go south and work with Bill Elliott, the fired Sequim city manager who now manages Estacada, Ore.
Elliott and Spinks worked together in Milton-Freewater, Ore., before both came to Sequim.
"I just heard that same rumor," Spinks said Tuesday night.
It's only that, he added. The chief and his wife, Connie, have decided they want to downsize.
If the home with three bedrooms, two baths and a den sells for anything like his asking price of $405,000, Spinks figures he could "buy a condo at SunLand," the golf-course development north of Sequim, "and a cottage at Ocean Shores."
Not that he plans to move to the latter town in the near future.
"I came here with the intent of being the long-term chief. I would like to retire here," he said. "I continue to be committed."
Then again, "never say never," Spinks added, though "I can unequivocally tell you I have no job offer," nor any intention of moving to Estacada.
