The State Patrol took three men into custody after they ran from a trooper this morning.

A trooper was driving on state Highway 112 west of Joyce near the Lyre River when he saw debris fall from the back of a 1988 Ford 150, said Trooper Krista Hedstrom, State Patrol spokeswoman.

The trooper stopped to pick it up, and the pickup stopped by the side of the road, Hedstrom said.

All three men riding in the pickup got out and fled, she said.

They were taken into custody only minutes later, at about 11 a.m.

The State Patrol had not verified the names of the men this morning.

Hedstrom said two are believed to have warrants for their arrest outstanding, one a felony, while the other is for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

“Likely that is why they would have run,” Hedstrom said. “Usually warrants are why people run.”
