LAPUSH — A 22-year-old Georgia man was plucked off a 150-foot cliff on Little James Island near LaPush today by a helicopter crew from the Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles.

LaPush Police Chief William Lyon said the man was stuck on the rocky face for about 2 1/2 hours.

“He got 150 feet and was unable to go up or down,” Lyon said.
“It’s real rocky there — not good for climbing.”

Climbing is prohibited at Little James Island.

It was the second rescue off a cliff in as many days on the North Olympic Peninsula.

A Toandos Peninsula man was rescued by Coast Guard helicopter in East Jefferson County late Sunday night after his leg got caught in a cable and he dangled over a bluff upside down for four hours.
