No one appeared to be hurt after a Glassair I single-engine, two-seat plane missed the Diamond Point Airport landing strip and landed in a small field east of Diamond Point Road at about 7 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Bob Rhoads, public information officer for Clallam County Fire District No. 3.

By the time firefighters arrived, the pilot and passenger had left the aircraft. They were taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles for evaluation.

The pilot, who was not identified, told firefighters that he attempted to land the plane at the airport after it lost power.

The landing gear was heavily damaged, Rhoads said, and the plane was resting on the bottom of the fuselage. There was no fire.
