Coast Guard Air Station/Group Port Angeles dispatched a HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew, consisting of a pilot, co-pilot, rescue swimmer and flight mechanic, at 9:25 a.m.
A 25-foot small response boat crew from Station Seattle joined the search.
Spokeswoman Tara Molle said officials hope the passenger simply forgot the red Huffy Eagle sport bike and walked off the ferry at the Seattle terminal.
The search was suspended at noon.
The identity of the bicycle's owner has not been verified.
The Coast Guard is still hoping to locate the owner of the unclaimed bike on the Washington State Ferry Kitsap.
Anyone with information on the identity of the missing person is asked to phone the ferry's operations center at 206-515-3441.
Another search was launched last week when a Spokane woman left her car on a ferry in Seattle. The woman was found unharmed a few days later.
