These musical legends and their soul-stirring songs will be recreated in a special two-and a-half hour fund-raising show for the Peninsula Daily News' Peninsula Home Fund on Saturday, Aug. 16.
It will begin at 8 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 110 S. Penn St., Port Angeles, with doors open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door on Aug. 16.
Half the money from the show will go the "hand up, not a handout" Peninsula Home Fund.
The show — "Summer Dance Party" — coincides with the 31st anniversary of Elvis' death at his Graceland home in Memphis. He was 42.
Performing will be The Reincarnations of Rock & Roll, a North Olympic Peninsula-based group that recreates Elvis, Joplin and Holly and those stars' greatest hits.
Elvis is James Reynolds of Brinnon, who has been performing tributes to Elvis for more than 20 years.
Kendra, Reynold's wife, developed her reincarnation of Joplin over decades of blues powerhouse singing.
Holly is performed by Raven, a Port Townsend musician, showman and actor.
Joining The Reincarnations for this show will be Jim Bluhm of Bremerton performing as Denver.
The Reincarnations also include bassist Bill Cleland, Steve Hutchins on keyboards and Peter Ross on drums.
They will transform themselves in musical style and appearance into Janis Joplin's Big Brother and the Holding Company, Elvis' TCB Band and Holly's Crickets.
Peninsula Home Fund
The Reincarnations also did a fundraising show for the Peninsula Home Fund at The Upstage Theatre and Restaurant in Port Townsend on Feb. 3.
Now in its 19th year, the Peninsula Home Fund is a safety net for children, teens, families and the elderly in Jefferson and Clallam counties — from Forks to Port Townsend, Quilcene and Brinnon to LaPush _ when they face economic or emotional emergencies and can't find help elsewhere.
No money is diverted for administration or other overhead.
The money earned at the Aug. 16 show will give an early start to the 2008 Home Fund campaign.
A record-smashing $193,312.11 was contributed by individuals, couples, businesses and school groups in Clallam and Jefferson counties during the Peninsula Home Fund's 2007 holiday fund-raising campaign that ran from Thanksgiving to Dec. 31.
Tickets for the Aug. 16 show are available from Peninsula Daily News offices at 305 W. First St. in Port Angeles; 150 S. Fifth Ave. Suite 2 in Sequim; 1939 E. Sims Way in Port Townsend; and at Strait Music, 1015 E. First St., Port Angeles.
Food, beverages and a full bar will be available at the Eagles Club.
