Clallam County is seeking residents willing to participate in county government by serving on groups that advise county commissioners.

They include:

  • Animal Issues Advisory Committee: Six positions are open on the group that serves as a liaison between commissioners and the county's contractor for animal shelter services, currently the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.

    Vacancies are open for representatives of county commissioners' Districts 1, 2 and 3; for a veterinarian and for the cities of Sequim and Port Angeles.

  • Boundary Review Board: One position is open on the board that, upon request by any jurisdiction affected by a boundary change such as an annexation proposal, reviews the proposal and has broad powers to determine logical boundaries, transfer of services and other matters. 

    The vacancy is for someone representing special taxing districts of the county for a four-year term.

  • Fair Advisory Board: One position is open for the group that helps plan, develop, organize and operate the Clallam County Fair and Fairgrounds. 

    The vacancy is for Forks or the West End for a four-year term.

  • Heritage Advisory Board: A vacancy for a four-year term from county commissioners' District 2 is open. The board advises commissioners on preserving the county's cultural heritage.

  • Homelessness Task Force: Positions for a representative from the faith community and a landlord or property manager are vacant on the board that advises commissioners related to homelessness.

  • Permit Advisory Board: The board makes recommendations to commissioners about changes in the Clallam County Building Code. One two-year position is open in the manufactured/mobile home association category.

    Interested residents should call the commissioners' office at 360-417-2233, visit their office in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, or obtain an application online at www.clallam.net.

    Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m., June 13.
