All are welcome for a single sit, part of the day or the whole day. No prior experience is necessary. Admission is by donation.
Basic meditation instructions will be provided at 8:30 a.m. Sits are a half-hour long, with alternating five- and 25-minute breaks in between.
Participants are asked to arrive on time, during one of the breaks or during lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. They should bring small mats or blankets and observe silence except during the lunch break.
Tea and treats will be available. Participants can bring bag lunches. Finger foods will be offered.
The schedule is meditation from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 9:35 a.m. to 10:05 a.m., followed by a 25-minute break; mediation from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 11:05 a.m. to 11:35 a.m., followed by a 25-minute break; meditation from noon to 12:30 p.m.; lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
After lunch, the schedule is mediation from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2:05 p.m. to 2:35 p.m., followed by a 25-minute break; meditation from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. to 4:05 p.m., followed by a 25-minute teaching, audio or video with Pema Chodron; mediation from 4:05 p.m. to 5:05 p.m., followed by 10 minutes of chanting the Heart Sutra and the Sharing of Merit.
