Contra dance set at Sequim Library

Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — A free all-ages community contra dance is set from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, on the lawn behind the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Amy Carroll of Seattle will call the dances to the music of Power House.

All dances will be taught.

Carroll, a folk dancer, has been calling dances for all ages and abilities since 1987.

The band Power House includes local musicians Kate Powers on fiddle, Ethan Powers on guitar and banjo, Kristina Tormala on Oregon bass and Chris Burt on guitar and mandolin.

If the weather is rainy, the contra dance will be held inside the Sequim High School cafeteria at 601 N. Sequim Ave.

There will be one more opportunity to enjoy live music at the outdoor stage at the Sequim Library this summer when rockabilly and blues band The Soul Ducks perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 12.

The Summertime Music! outdoor concert series is supported by the Friends of Sequim Library.
