PORT TOWNSEND –– No pudding, no meat, but a heaping helping of psychedelia will be dished out as Pink Floyd tribute band Pigs on the Wing comes to town.

Though the band’s sets evoke the mood and image of Pink Floyd, guitarist and vocalist Jason Baker said they are far from a simple cover band.

“We play a lot of Floyd songs, sure. But we also feel free enough to take off on our own trips,” Baker said.

The Portland, Ore., band plays two sets starting at 10 p.m. at Sirens pub, 823 Water St., on Saturday.

In 2006, the band was playing as Oxcart when it decided to toss out the set list and tear into Pink Floyd’s 1973 masterpiece “Dark Side of the Moon.”

“We just felt like doing something different that night,” Baker said. “And it just kind of caught people in the right place.”

They have since brought the psychedelic tribute to stages around the Pacific Northwest and have cultivated a bit of a following.

“People love Floyd. It’s pretty much that simple,” Baker said. “You see a lot of people really get into it because the band, and that album especially, means so much to so many people.”

The lineup includes Baker on guitar and vocals; Matt Jones on keyboard and vocals; Eric Welder on bass; Bryan Fairfield on drums; David Lindenbaum on guitar and vocals; Keeley St. Clair on backing vocals; and Pete Galluzzo on saxophone.

Tickets to Saturday’s shows are $10 and are available through www.brownpapertickets.com. The show is for those 21 and older.
