LIVE MUSIC COLUMN: Relax to sounds of summertime

THE JEFFERSON COUNTY Fair offers the most live music in one spot, but there are plenty of other choices to suit mood and pocketbook this week.

Port Angeles

■ Today at Castaways Restaurant and Night Club, 1213 Marine Drive, it’s Jerry’s country jam with guest singers Terry Roszatycki and Jim Hansen from California play from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Today at The Dam Bar, junction of U.S. Highway 101 and state Highway 112, Chip Norris hosts the jam session from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

■ Today at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Howly Slim and Sandy Summers play from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Family-oriented. Free.

■ Today at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., the open-mic variety show begins at 9 p.m.

On Friday, Band of Thieves performs at 2nd Friday Art Rock (2FAR), with Robert Downing, also known as “The Mad Fiddler,” guitarist Preston Hughs and Merryn Welch on the djembe from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Good Machine will follow from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The trio members are Cole Gibson, guitar/banjo with vocals; Hayden Pomeroy, upright bass/vocals; and Taylor Thomas, cello and vocals.

On Saturday, the Courtney John Project plays at 9 p.m.

■ On Friday at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. U.S. Highway 101, Dave and Rosalie Secord with the Luck of the Draw Band and special guest Jim Lind perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at Barhop Brewing, 124 W. Railroad Ave., Walter Lee and The White Boys play classic rock from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

■ On Saturday at Elliot’s Emporium, 135 E. First St., Hawaii Amor plays traditional ukulele from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

■ On Tuesday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Rusty and Duke Moros with Terry Roszatycki and Jim Hansen perform. $5 cover; first-timers free.

Sequim

■ Today at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., Cort Armstrong and friends entertain from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Friday, Rufus Perry & the Blue Hares performs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, Lush Life, comprising Trevor Hanson and Jim Rosand, plays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Wednesday, Bill Volmut plays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at The Oasis Bar and Grill, 301 E. Washington St., the Dukes of Dabob bring New Orleans beats from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, it’s time to rock ’n’ roll to the oldies dance music of Final Approach from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

■ On Friday behind the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., Geoffrey Castle performs at Summertime Music!, the third year of the outdoor concert series, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will go on inside.

■ On Saturday at the Sequim VFW, 169 E. Washington St., High Country plays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. No cover.

■ On Saturday at the Holiday Inn Express, 1441 E. Washington St., Gil Yslas entertains at the weekly Music on the Roof from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Wednesday at Nourish, 1345 S. Sequim Ave., Victor Reventlow hosts the open mic from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with sign-ups at 6 p.m.

Blyn

■ On Friday in Club Seven lounge at 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, rock out to the Pat Travers Band from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On Saturday, 4 More plays the “Burning Down the House Party” as part of the Sequim Fire Department’s centennial celebration from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Friday in the Rainforest Bar, listen to Buck Ellard’s country blends from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, Joey James Dean plays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Port Hadlock

■ On Friday at the Ajax Cafe, 21 N. Water St., Trevor Hanson plays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Port Ludlow

■ Today in the Fireside Room at the Resort at Port Ludlow, 1 Heron Road, Trevor Hanson plays classical guitar from 6 p.m. to closing.

Port Townsend

■ Today at the Cellar Door, 940 Water St., Cabana from Seattle and Mexico-originated Dorotheo play from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

On Friday, Rafael Pondé plays at 9 p.m. $5 cover.

On Saturday, the Crow Quill Night Owls play at 9 p.m. $5 cover.

On Tuesday, The Electric Blue Sun — a trio with Buzz Rogowski, keyboards; Jeff Wittekind, guitar and Bob Dickey on drums — plays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. No cover.

■ Today at the Owl Sprit Cafe, 218 Polk St., Steve Grandinetti plays solo acoustic guitar from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at Sirens Pub, 823 Water St., up-and-coming songwriter Alyse Black presents song stories at 9 p.m. $5 cover.

■ On Friday at Port Townsend Brewing, 330 10th St., the Delta Rays with Peter Evasick and George Radebaugh brings tunes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, Shady Grove plays in the beer garden from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, Skip Morris Jazz jazzes it up in the beer garden from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Pourhouse, 2231 Washington St., Seattle-based Hot Club Sandwich — a hot jazz string band with Tim Wetmiller on fiddle, Ray Wood, guitar; Kevin Connor, guitar; Matt Sircely, mandolin; James Schneider, bass; and Joseph Mascorella doing vocals — performs in the beer garden from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For those 21 and older. Free.

On Saturday, Lowire with Sean Mugrage, Frank DePalma and Megan Hudson plays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For those 21 and older. Free.

■ Every Monday, Trevor Hanson plays guitar at Alchemy, 842 Washington St., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ This weekend in Port Townsend at the Jefferson County Fair, 4907 Landes St., there are three days of live music fun all day (and night) long. Visit http://tinyurl.com/jeffcofair for a complete schedule.

■ Today, the Port Townsend Concerts on the Dock brings The Yacht Club to Pope Marine Plaza in downtown Port Townsend. The party starts at 4:30 p.m., with music from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free.

The band features local Port Townsend talent: Kevin Mason, vocalist; Jim Wickens, guitar; Doug Noltemeier, guitar; Walter Harris, bass guitar; Josh Dylan Peters, drums; and Selena Espinoza doing background vocals.

A beer, wine and cider garden will be available.

■ On Friday at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St., the Bee Eaters plays at 8 p.m.

■ On Saturday, the last Farm Store Stomp at Nash’s Community Barn, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way, will feature the Toolshed Trio from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

George Rezendes plays guitar and vocals, Dave Meis is on steel guitar, David Conklin plays bass, and Tomoki Sage beats the drums.

A $5 donation helps pay for the band’s travel costs.

■ On Saturday, Olympic Cellars, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, has local favorite Fat Chance for the summer concert series at 7 p.m.

■ On Saturday, Locos Only performs for Sequim’s fire protection centennial from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave. in Sequim. Band members are Kevin Lee Magner, Russ Lowry, Scott Bradley and Taylor ­Ackley.

■ On Sunday at the Rotary Club Salmon Bake fundraiser for the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., Porto Alegre plays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

■ On Tuesday, Sequim’s Music in the Park will feature the Stardust Big Band starting at 6 p.m. in Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.
