Volume one features the fine art, photography, poetry, short prose and music of North Olympic Peninsula residents.
Volume two combines the best of the past 50 years of publication with new work by regional writers and artists, including poets Tess Gallagher and Holly Hughes and artists Michael Paul Miller and Micah McCarty.
Tidepools staff and partnering organizations have planned three readings to celebrate the release of the two-volume magazine:
■ Foothills Writers Series — Issue-release celebration, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Maier Performance Hall, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
■ Awards ceremony and reading — 7 p.m. Friday, Raymond Carver Reading Room, Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Sponsored by Port Book and News
■ Northwind Reading Series — 7 p.m. July 10, Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The anniversary issue will be on sale Wednesday in Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Sequim and Forks.
■ Port Angeles — Port Book and News, 104 E. First St.; Odyssey Bookshop, 114 W. Front St.; the Heatherton Gallery, The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave.; and The Bookaneer on the Peninsula College campus in Port Angeles.
■ Port Townsend — The Writers' Workshoppe, 234 Taylor St.

■ Forks — Peninsula College Extension Site, 71 S. Forks Ave.
This year also marks the first Amazon Kindle version of the magazine, which also will go on sale Wednesday.
Volume 50-1 and 50-2 will cost $3.50 each. They can be found by searching on Amazon for Tidepools magazine.
