The wreck was reported at about 2:30 p.m. on the highway about a mile south of 4 Corners Road, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Highway 20 was taken down to one-lane alternating traffic for about an hour.
Bill Beezley, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman, said emergency crews arrived to find the man alert in the white GMC Terrain.
The fire department doesn't identify those hurt in wrecks because of privacy laws, Beezley has said.
Beezley said witnesses reported that the GMC was eastbound when it left the road to the right, flipped over and slid onto its roof before coming to a stop.
The driver, the only one involved in the wreck, was extricated from the SUV, Beezley said.
Beezley said initial examinations of the man showed no injuries, but he was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Healthcare as a precaution.
