The music will start at 1:30 p.m. with the Dungeness All-Star Folk Dance Band, and continue through the afternoon with sets by the Young Fiddlers, a group of local players from around Sequim, and the Angel Band, a gospel-music group led by singer-guitarist —and Washington Old Time Fiddlers state president — Rita Hubbard.
Admission to the two-hour show is a suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family at the door of the Port Angeles High auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave.
The Washington Old Time Fiddlers play traditional fiddle music, but don't stick to the eponymous instrument. Members take up mandolins, concertinas, guitars, banjos and the acoustic bass and ukulele, to name some.
Sunday's concert brings together WOTF District 15, an assembly of musicians from Clallam and Jefferson counties formed in 2000.
These players get together twice a month for jam sessions and performances to which the public is invited: from noon to 3:30 p.m. the second Saturday of the month at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall, 290 Macleay Road in Carlsborg, and from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the fourth Saturday of the month at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road in Chimacum.
For fans of traditional acoustic music, annual Washington Old Time Fiddlers membership is an option. The annual $25 dues provide access to Sunday's concert and other events, and provides scholarships for local youngsters taking music lessons. All of this helps perpetuate this traditional music, noted member Frank Figg.
