Port Angeles community trivia contest slated for Saturday

Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles know-it-alls are challenged to prove their claims Saturday at the first Port Angeles Trivia Night.

Winners will not only be crowned Port Angeles trivia champions, but will also win cash prizes.

The trivia contest is a fundraiser for Port Angeles High School Band Boosters, which is raising funds to send about 100 members of the high school band to Washington, D.C., in April, and to help provide college scholarships for members of the class of 2014.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the trivia contest begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Hall, 622 S. Lincoln St.

Entries are $10 per team member, at the door, and teams can have a minimum of six and a maximum of eight members.

There will be three rounds of 10 questions, which are answered as a team.

Door prizes, raffle baskets, auction items, concessions, jazz music, a 50/50 raffle, a game of heads and tails and more will be offered between rounds while judges score each team's entry.

The use of electronic devices such as smartphones will not be allowed during the competition.

Any team caught using electronic assistance will be disqualified from the contest.

Interoffice challenges, intra-office challenges, family teams and student teams are all welcome.

Band Boosters recommends that children who are members of teams, or those who attend as guests, be at least middle-school age or older.
