Preservationists make history with history awards in Port Townsend

In the photo at right, recipients of the annual Mary Johnson Awards that honor local historic preservation projects are presented Monday at the American Legion Hall in Port Townsend.

They are, from left, Sandra McDermott for work on the Webster House, Molly Klupfell and Michael Klupfell for the Grace House, Michelle Sandoval for the Eisenbeis Building, Joe Carey for the American Legion Marvin G. Shields Post No. 26 building and Nancy McDaniel for her book Sound Defense, which Carey is shown reading.

The awards are sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society.
