Special holiday shopping in Sequim, Port Angeles

Peninsula Daily News

Sales, treats, music and drawings for gift baskets are part of two holiday events to encourage residents to shop local — “Guys' Night Out” in Sequim tonight and “Shop 'Til You Drop” in Port Angeles on Thursday night.

At both events, stores and shops will stay open until 8 p.m.

There will be complimentary gifts, sales, special discounts on merchandise and holiday cocoa, hot cider and cookies at many of the stores for people who come in between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

'Guys' Night Out'

“Of course, either gender can shop,” according to the Sequim Merchant Group and Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring tonight's companion event to Dec. 12's “Girls' Night Out.”

“A wonderful gift basket has been created,” the two groups added, “with items donated by local merchants. The basket will be raffled off [in a drawing] at the end of the night.”

To enter the drawing, shop from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at any of the 18 downtown merchants — all on Washington Street or on Bell Street — participating at the event.

The drawing will be at The Oasis Bar and Grill, 301 E. Washington St., shortly after 8 p.m.

For a list of participating merchants, phone the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce at 360-683-6197 or visit www.sequimchamber.com or the chamber's Facebook page.

'Shop 'Til You Drop'

More than 30 stores and shops in downtown Port Angeles and at The Landing mall will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Shoppers can enter a drawing at participating stores for a gift basket with gift certificates worth more than $500.

“Shop 'Til You Drop” is sponsored by the Port Angeles Downtown Association.

Also Thursday, the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual holiday after-hours business mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The mixer is at Necessities and Temptations gift shop/department store, 217 N. Laurel St.

There will be appetizers, eggnog, hot cider, chocolates and a drawing for door prizes.

Colorful shopping bags for “Shop 'Til You Drop” will be provided at the mixer.

Special wristbands also will be available, entitling the wearer that evening to wines at $3 a glass and $5 cheesy flatbread at Wine on the Waterfront in The Landing mall.
