The drive, kicked off on the Day of Caring on Sept. 14, has the theme “We Are United.”
Projects for the Day of Caring, coordinated by Port Angeles City Councilman Patrick Downie, brought out 209 volunteers at 11 sites across the county who together donated 809 hours of volunteer service valued at more than $16,000.
This key group of volunteers provides leadership and direction to the annual campaign, recruits volunteers and gets the community mobilized in raising local funds that stay in the community.
Soon, many United Way volunteers will be wearing their Live United T-shirts and asking colleagues and community members to make an investment to change lives.
The campaign chairman this year is Buck Gieseke of Integrity One Home Mortgages Inc.
“When we are actively involved, we see firsthand the difference we can make and become more than donors; we become community investors,” he said.
The individual campaigns and the volunteers leading them as members of United Way's Campaign Cabinet are:
■ Port Angeles Business campaigns will be guided by Amelia Andaleon of Andaleon & Associates.
