PORT TOWNSEND — Troopers who responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of state Highways 19 and 20 on June 29 at approximately 6:30 p.m. are requesting assistance in identifying the suspect vehicle that fled the scene.
The victim vehicle, a green 1998 Honda Civic, was northbound on Highway 19, slowing for traffic ahead, when the suspect vehicle, a two-tone blue 1979 Chevrolet El Camino, struck the right rear of the Honda with its left front.
The Chevrolet fled the scene westbound on Highway 20.
The victim driver snapped a photo of the rear of the suspect vehicle before it fled, capturing the license plate. This license indicated that the vehicle had been sold in 2003 and there was no new registered owner information.
The vehicle has a partially painted tailgate that is dark blue with light blue or light blue primer paint. There is a large sticker on the rear bumper that says INDEPENDENT.
If anyone has any information about the vehicle, please call Trooper Chris Moon at 360-417-1738.
At right is the actual photo taken of the El Camino. The driver of the El Camino is believed to be a white male, in his 30s, with long hair in a pony tail and wearing a hat at the time of the collision.
