Clallam EDC honors SCORE counselors with Olympic Leader award

Yoram Bauman of Seattle, a humorist and Ph.D economist described as “the world’s first and only stand-up economist,” delivered the keynote speech.
Bauman was introduced by Randy Johnson, 2012 EDC board president.
Johnson’s company, Green Crow, sponsored Bauman’s appearance at the EDC dinner.
The EDC’s 2013 officers are Charlie Brandt of the Battelle Marine Sciences Lab in Sequim, president; Brian Kuh, Columbia Bank branch manager in Sequim representing the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, first vice president; Rod Fleck, Forks city attorney, second vice president; and Johnson of Green Crow, past president and treasurer.
The three SCORE counselors based at the Clallam EDC — Mark Hannah, Chuck Lamb and Mike McCarty — were individually honored with the 2012 Olympic Leader award.
The award recognizes a business or business leader who has had a significant impact on the economic growth and stability of Clallam County.
The three SCORE counselors provide free, confidential business counseling and mentoring services in partnership with the Small Business Administration to aid local small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals.
All three have years of broad, bottom-line business experience.
The Olympic Leader award, sponsored by Sound Community Bank, was presented by EDC Finance and Operations Director Teri Martin.
The three SCORE counselors “work tirelessly, on their own time as volunteers to assist entrepreneurs, start-ups and existing businesses work through their ideas, business plans, cash flow, target markets so they can be as successful as possible,” said Martin.
After the awards presentation, EDC Executive Director Linda Rotmark talked about Martin’s impending retirement and presented her with a gift basket.
