This tourism promotion money comes from Port Angeles hotel-motel-B&B bed taxes.
The money is disbursed by the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors based on recommendations by the chamber’s Special Events Committee.
Deadline for submitting an application for a tourism promotion grant is 5 p.m. Feb. 1.
“This is part of the contract the chamber has with the city to market the community,” said Russ Veenema, the chamber’s executive director.
“In the past, the committee has awarded grants ranging from $500 to $15,000.
“The amounts vary a great deal depending on the size of the event or project and the potential return on investment to the city.”
To obtain criteria for receiving the money, contact Veenema at 360-452-2363, Ext. 13, or email russv@olypen.com.
Interested organizations can also write Veenema at the chamber, 121 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
