More than 50 pieces are on display in “Small Wonders and Tiny Treasures,” a miniature-art show in the gallery inside The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave.
And since the show is a benefit for the Port Angeles Food Bank, the adjacent Smuggler's Landing restaurant will dish up free hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries for everyone who brings in a nonperishable food donation Saturday evening.
Part of Second Saturday
These free suppers, served between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., are part of The Landing Art Gallery's participation in the Second Saturday Art Walk, an event that takes place in downtown Port Angeles galleries on the second Saturday night of every month.
The “Small Wonders” show features Landing Art Gallery members' work priced from $25 to $100, with the artists donating half of their proceeds to the food bank.
Among the contributors are painters Jeff Tocher and Sherry Shipley, photographer Pam Schoonover-Russell and ceramist Anna Wiancko Chasman, whose mixed-media tableaux “Waiting” is winner of the show's first prize.
Also this weekend, the Art Up Front Gallery and the Studio Bob art space, both upstairs at 118½ E. Front St., are offering activities.
Studio Bob hosts a “Paint Your Own Gift” event, with art supplies on hand.
Everyone is invited to the studio to create a hand-painted present — at $3 for a small canvas, $5 for medium, $7 for large — from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon till 3 p.m. Sunday.
Art Up Front, meantime, has a new show of shimmering glass art by Valerie Thomas. An opening reception with refreshments is set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Then, through December, Art Up Front will be open from 2 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
Oven Spoonful, at 110 E. First St., is another Second Saturday Art Walk participant.
Allyn Cowan of Port Angeles, December's featured artist, has mounted her comical pet portraits at the cafe. They include “Spots Illustrated,” a faux magazine whose cover model is a Dalmatian with a lopsided grin.
