National Weather Service warns on unusual high tides in Port Townsend

Port Townsend and the Hood Canal area are included in this coastal flood advisory issued by the National Weather Service:

* HAZARD...THE COMBINATION OF SEASONAL HIGH TIDES AND LOWER
ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE INVOLVED WITH THE CURRENT SEQUENCE OF
PACIFIC WEATHER SYSTEMS RAISES THE POTENTIAL OF MINOR TIDAL
OVERFLOW EACH MORNING THURSDAY...FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. WINDY
CONDITIONS AND WAVE ACTION MAY AGGRAVATE THESE CONDITIONS.

* IMPACTS...IMPACTS MAY INCLUDE WATER OVER LOW-LYING
ROADWAYS...SHORELINES...HARBORS AND POSSIBLY INTO ANY LOW-LYING
HOMES AND PROPERTY.

* TIME OF HIGH TIDE...FOR SEATTLE...HIGH TIDE WILL OCCUR AT 617 AM

TOWNSEND...HIGH TIDE WILL OCCUR AT 608 AM THURSDAY...641 AM

* PREDICTED TIDE...FOR SEATTLE...11.8 FEET THURSDAY...11.9 FEET
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. FOR PORT TOWNSEND...9.1 FEET FOR
THURSDAY...FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. FOR CHERRY POINT...9.7 FEET FOR
THURSDAY...9.8 FEET FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

* EXPECTED TIDAL ANOMALY...TIDAL ANOMALIES ARE EXPECTED TO BE ONE
TO TWO FEET ABOVE EXPECTED HIGH TIDES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

PREPARE NOW FOR ANY THREAT OF WATER IN THESE LOW-LYING VULNERABLE
AREAS SUCH AS MOVING KEY PROPERTY ITEMS TO HIGHER GROUND.
