Shirley May Berryman

July 18, 1930 -- Sept. 27, 2006

Shirley May Berryman of Sequim died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 76.

She was born in Venezuela to Russell and Cecelia (Stewart) Davis.

She married John Berryman in Garden Grove, Calif., on Sept. 19, 1970.

Mrs. Berryman enjoyed gardening and tole painting, in which she was an instructor.

She was also a bookkeeper and enjoyed knitting.

In addition to her husband, survivors include daughters Cheryl Johnson of Blue Lake, Calif.; Sue Hathaway of Tucson, Ariz.; and Carol Walsh of Buena Park, Calif.; and stepchildren Jane Berryman and Jeff Berryman, both of Las Vegas; and Janis Cook of Lancaster, Calif.

Additional survivors include brothers Frank Davis of Prineville, Ore., and Sam Davis of Spokane; sister Nancy O"Leary of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services: Saturday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m., memorial in the Little Brown Church of Blyn, 142 Zaccardo Road, Blyn. The Rev. Steve Devine will officiate.

Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, was in charge.

David Roy Bjornson

Aug. 26, 1950 -- Sept. 18, 2006

Former Port Angeles resident David Roy Bjornson of Enumclaw died at 56.

His obituary will be published later.

Services: Friday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m., memorial in Ocean View Cemetery Chapel, 3127 W. 18th St., Port Angeles. Pastor Doug Peterson will officiate. A reception will follow at the home of Olga Atkinson, 1009 W. Sixth St., Port Angeles.

Weeks Funeral Home, Enumclaw, is in charge.

Albert H. Roush

Sept. 7, 1918 -- Sept. 22, 2006

Albert H. Roush died of cancer in Sequim. He was 88.

Mr. Roush was born to Albert Jasper and Anna Frances (Hollister) Roush in Hanover, Ohio.

He married Ramona Conner in Seattle on Dec. 19, 1941.

Mr. Roush was in the Army from 1941 to 1945, rising to staff sergeant.

He was a real estate agent in San Jose, Calif., before moving to Sequim in 1981.

He was a member of the Sequim Elk Lodge and Masons.

Survivors include his wife of Sequim; son Phillip Roush of Port Angeles; daughters Leslie Zugg of Sequim, Marcella Harrington of Whidbey Island and Rebecca Roush of Seattle; brother Ethan Roush of Quilcene; sister Rachel Bard of Vashon Island; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son Martin Roush, who died on Sept. 22, 1981, exactly 25 years before Mr. Roush's death, and sister Ann Roush.

Services: None. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline G. Thornton-Wiley

March 27, 1921 -- Sept. 25, 2006

Pauline G. Thorton-Wiley died of age-related causes at Port Angeles Care Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Thornton-Wiley was born to Paul Frank and Eleanor Pauline (Donlan) Mayer in Seattle.

She married Jack Donald Thornton in 1950 in Seattle. He died Nov. 11, 1989.

She lived in Issaquah and Kirkland in her early years, moving later to Aberdeen, Forks and Port Angeles.

She enjoyed playing rummy and dancing.

She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Seattle and Eagles.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Jackie and Wendi Thornton; daughter-in-law Jolie Thornton; daughters and sons-in-law Christina and Jeff Lehrkind and Sandy and David Schroeder; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son Ricky Thornton and brothers David and Bernie Mayer.

Gordon Wallace Umbehocker

Jan. 31, 1928 -- Sept. 28, 2006

Gordon Wallace Umbehocker of Port Angeles died of heart failure. He was 78.

He was born in Princeton, Minn., to Charles and Ina Marie (Hill) Umbehocker.

He enlisted in the Coast Guard on Sept. 11, 1946, and served until his retirement as chief warrant officer on Aug. 1, 1969.

His specialties were electronics, mechanics and technical engineering. One year of his active duty was at Marcus Island in the northwest Pacific Ocean.

Mr. Umbehocker married Margaret Joyce Curnow on June 23, 1947, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The Umbehockers moved to Port Angeles in 1963.

He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Michael G. and Carol Umbehocker of Federal Way and Kenneth M. and Teresa Umbehocker of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Curt and Lori Madison of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Duane and Christine Ries of Tenino; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Kenneth Amdall of Naperville, Ill.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services: Private family graveside service in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles. The Rev. Kenneth Dooley of First United Methodist Church will officiate.

Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: Charity of choice.

McLean correction

Mildred Pearl McLean is survived by daughter-in-law Julia McLean and son and daughter-in-law Dean Jr. and Vonnie, all of Sequim. Son Kenneth Harris died in 1946. Incomplete and incorrect information was published Tuesday in the obituary on Page A6.
