Iris Victoria Cook

Jan. 11, 1920 -- April 30, 2005

Iris Victoria Cook died in her Port Angeles home at age 85.

Dec. 17, 1932 -- April 29, 2005

Charlyne Coppo died in Sequim at age 72.

Grace M. Fields

Dec. 8, 1901 -- April 18, 2005

Port Townsend resident Grace M. Fields died of natural causes in Kah Tai Care Center at age 103.

She was born in Bowdoinham, Maine, to Clarence I. and Minnie E. (Gerty) Doughty.

She married Troy Fields in South Portland, Maine, on March 15, 1922.

The Fieldses came to Port Townsend in 1936, when her husband was stationed in the Army at Fort Worden.

As a military wife, Mrs. Fields lived on Corregidor in the Philippines, where four of their five sons were born.

After her husband died May 16, 1948, Mrs. Fields raised their six children. She was a devoted homemaker, and was also skilled at knitting and playing the piano and organ.

Mrs. Fields was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Gold Star Mothers.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law John "Jack"' and Marian Fields of Port Hadlock, Fred and Cecelia Fields of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Clarence and Lucille Fields of Gardnerville, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth "Betty" and Larry Grewell of Chimacum; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sons Clifford Fields and Carl Fields.

Services: June 9, 11 a.m., graveside in Fort Worden Cemetery. Cremains will be buried along with husband and oldest son, Carl. Bill Bell will officiate.

Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.

Walter M. Johnson

Nov. 24, 1929 -- May 1, 2005

Walter M. Johnson died at his Port Angeles home at age 75.

July 6, 1928 -- April 29, 2005

John M. Rogers died at Port Angeles Care Center at age 76.

Eugenia Marie-Blanche Rusek

Aug. 27, 1933 -- April 23, 2005

Eugenia Marie-Blanche Rusek died in Sequim of complications from cancer at age 71.

Mrs. Rusek was born to John and Eva Marie (Barrett) Van Antwerp in Richardson, N.D.

She married Joe Gregory. They divorced but still remained friends.

She later married Charles Norris Rusek on Aug. 2, 1975, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Mrs. Rusek enjoyed gardening, pets and playing casino slot machines.

Survivors include her husband of Sequim; stepsons Mike, Tim, Tom and Terry Rusek, all of Helena, Mont.; daughters Susan Worthington and her husband, Earl, of Omak, Jodi Gregory and Robin Gregory, both of Sequim, and Becky Heikkila and her husband, Jim, of Seaside, Ore.; stepdaughters Kelly Rusek and Patty Sue Rusek; brothers Randy Van Antwerp, Wally Van Antwerp, and Bobby McEvers; sisters Helen Sauter, June Reich, and Betty Sharp; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sister Donna Kroll.
